Paintings

This is an oil version of the pastel crayon drawing I did before, which was the sketch for this, although I doubt what version I like the better. I hope I can make the sky more alive yet though, because I’m not at all satisfied with that yet and I’ll try to improve it. It just has too many straight lines in it and well I just don’t like it very much. Anyway the idea was to make a parody on Vladimir Kush’ painting “Sunrise by the ocean”, I turned it into a sunfall. More info on my idea can be found here or through my page Art > Other.

Another school assignment. Purpose was to make something inspired by the art in the 16/17th century. It’s a painting representing a stage, a play, with the hands from Michelangelo’s painting “Creation of Adam”. I chose to paint that particular part, because it represents the creation of the entire human race. Meaning of it, is that our life is just a play. We get born, we live, we die. Just like a play, it starts, there’s a storyline and it ends – what remains of it? Nothing really.
To the people in the 16th and 17th century life was just a road they had to pass, before getting to heaven: that’s what really mattered. Heaven, God, Death. And life was just a play.

Second portrait painting, started it before the previous one was finished. Did this one at home and I didn’t have oil paint yet, so I made it with acrylic paint, which was a bit stupid because I wanted to do a two-layered one. Turned out that doesn’t really work with acrylic paint. Lesson learned and will never do it again. Subject: Michael Hall as Dexter

My first portrait painting, done with oil paint for an assignment at school. Subject: Benedict Cumberbatch as Sherlock

  1. These are great! I love the way you’ve achieved the sense of bright light in the Michelangelo picture.
